Operation Transformation

Bagenalstown Family Resource Centre is taking part in Operation Transformation. Take time out for yourself in a friendly and relaxed environment. A healthier mind, a healthier you, make new friends and have fun. Enrolment Monday, Jan. 20 at 10am and 7pm in the Family Resource Centre, Moneybeg, Royal Oak Road. FRC charity shop in Main Street is now open again for the New Year. Feel free to pop in and take a look at the new stock, books, women’s, men’s and children’s clothing, furniture and lots more.

Art/Craft – Creative Sewing.

First Steps Parent and Toddler

Starts back at Bagenalstown Family Resource Centre on Wednesday, Jan.29 from 10.30am to 12 noon. It includes games, art and crafts, healthy snack. Everyone welcome from 0-5 years. Cost is €2 per child. Contact BFRC 059 9722028.

Computer Classes.

Creative Sewing.

Tuesday nights from 7.30pm-9pm at Bagenalstown Family Resource Centre, starting Tuesday, Jan. 21. This course is for 6 weeks and costs €25. Contact BFRC at 059 9722028.

Cookery Demonstrations

BFRC Operation Transformation healthy eating cooking demonstrations will start on Tues. Jan. 28

from 7.30pm to 9pm. Great tips on healthy eating. Cooking suggested recipes from this year’s Operation Transformation. Cost €3 per week. If interested please contact the Centre on 059 9722028 for more details.


Carlow Historical & Archaeological Society: Lecture by Padraig Laffan The desperate Fight to Save the Harvest of 1946 and the Bad Winter of 1947. Wed.

Christmas Day Swim

Congratulations to the 20 swimmers who braved the river Barrow on a very cold Christmas morning

and to the very big group of walkers for their participation to raise funds for the Carlow/Kilkenny Home Care Team. This was the 21st annual Sponsored Christmas Day Swim/Walk and the organiser, Mary

Foster, appreciates their support, the lifeguards and

everyone who helped in any way. Sponsorship cards

should be returned to Mary and can be dropped to her at 2 Kilree Street. Donations very welcome.


The AGM of Muine Bheag Camogie Club will be held on Fri. Jan. 17 at 7.30pm in the McGrath Hall.

Red Devils

The Bagenalstown Red Devils held their annual Children’s Christmas Party last Sunday and nearly 70 children enjoyed a great day out and a gift from Santa.

Bridge Club

McGrath Bridge Club would welcome new members to the club with bridge lessons available for beginners. If interested contact 059 9721177 or 087 9399032.

Carlow Fence Draw

Fenagh Improvement Group (FIG) would like to thank all supporters and sponsors of their recent draw which was a huge success. The stone fence will start early this year and will hopefully be an eternal feature of the Carlow landscape, similar to the Brownshill Dolmen and the Nine Stones on Mt. Leinster. FIG expresses their appreciation to the local traders, committees and industries – Tom Kearney, the Black Cat, the Hunter’s Rest, Burnside Hydracil, Fenagh Steam Rally committee, Carlow Precast Tanks, Carlow Concrete Engineering, Ashgrove Residents’ Association and Fenagh Field Day committee. FIG is deeply appreciative of the assistance of Carlow County Council in grant funding, Cllr. Jim Townsend, Cllr Michael Doran for contributions from their Council funding. Clonegath School of Speech & Drama (between Newtown and Fenagh). Ten week (Group) term which

St. Vincent de Paul

The Vincent’s shop at Church Road is open from Monday to Friday 10.30am to 12.30pm. and Friday afternoon from 2pm to 4pm. The committee would welcome any donations of toys, clothes etc. in good condition.
