Bagenalstown Parish Year Book 2011
The 2011 Bagenalstown Parish Yearbook will be on sale from Wednesday, Dec. 14. It will be available from The Little Shop, Bagenalstown Office and Secretarial Services, Short Stories, Kilcarrig Stores, Supervalu, The Black Cat, Fenagh and Ballinkillen. There is a limited number of copies and the cost is €5 per copy.
Radio Mass
Radio Mass from St. Andrew’s Parish Church takes placed on 106.9 FM. The ceremonies in the Parish Church can be heard on the radio at this frequency.
Christmas Day Swim or Walk
Sponsored Christmas Day swim or walk in aid of Carlow/Kilkenny Home Care Team. The swim will start at 12 noon outside the swimming pool at the steps to the river. Barrow Walk at 11.30am from the picnic tables. Sponsored cards are available from Mary on 085 1521232. Your support is very much appreciated.

Courses at Bagenalstown Family Resource Centre
The Law and You
If you would like to understand more about the law and your rights why not sign up for the Law and You course at the Family Resource Centre. Some of the points covered will be traffic law, court system, personal injuries, consumer rights, Motor Insurance Bureau of Ireland, will making etc. The course will be delivered by a qualified solicitor funded by County Carlow Women’s Network and Community Foundation of Ireland. Youth Activities
The Family Resource Centre offers the following courses:-
One to one educational support for secondary school students who are finding it hard to keep up. Mondays 5pm to 6pm. Speech and Drama

Skills for Work
Communications/Computers for Employees. Free Course.
Communications: Improve reading/writing/listening skills. Basic computers: Intranet, Internet and emailing. This course is funded by the Department of Education and Skills and delivered by Carlow V.E.C. Further information from Allison Bracken at 086 7736873.
Basic Communications/Computer Course for Farmers.
Learn to communicate through computers, no experience required. Commencing a short-term programme in January 2012. Course content – Communications, Word Processing, Internet and email. Craft Fair
Bagenalstown Scout Group will hold a Craft Fair and Cake Sale on Sat. Dec. 17 in the Scout Den, Kilcarrig Street. Various items will be on sale, some of which the scouts made and decorated. The doors will open at 10am and there will be a draw for several prizes.
Cabaret
Bagenalstown Juvenile Club will hold a cabaret night in the Manor House on Sat. Dec. 17 in aid of the club. Tickets on sale at €2. Your support would be much appreciated.
AGM
Erin’s Own Hurling Club recently held their AGM in the Estoria, Bagenalstown. The following officers and committee members were elected: Hon. Life President Micheal Jones; Vice Presidents Jimmy Doyle, Mickey Kelly; Chairperson Phil Geughegan; Vice Chairperson Jim Bolger; Secretary Emmett Coburn; Asst. Secretary David O’Brien; Treasurer Anna Monaghan; Asst. Treasurer Chrissie Hickey. Committee: Jimmy Hickey, Joe Doyle, Joe Somers, Pat Walsh, Mick Purcell, Brendan Mullins, Melanie Mullins, Brian McSteen, John Monaghan, Colm O’Brien, David Kelly, Paddy Robinson, Willie Doyle and Mickey Kelly. The club will hold its annual Race Night in the Red Lion, Regent Street, on St. Stephen’s Day at 5pm. Anyone interested in buying horses or sponsoring a race please contact any committee member.
Pilgrimage to Medjugorie
The pilgrimage will take place from June 27 to July 4 next year. Cost €629 per person sharing. Early booking offers €150 off if paid in full by Dec. 16 (€479); €100 off if paid in full by Feb. 1.
